Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care.

• Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.
• Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments.
• Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
• Performs therapeutic nursing interventions.
• Manages care of patients.
• Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
• Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
• Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirement: ASN.

Preferred Education: BSN.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• BLS - AHA.
• NRP (AHA Only).
• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• 1+ year of experience in related specialty.
• Level II experience,
• STRONG IV skills (no IR team),
• Bedside UA, UV, & chest tube insertion,
• Managing [b]cpap (respiratory shared with hospital),
• Tube feeding (NG/OG)
• Universal Transfers
• Epic experience

Preferred:

• Level III experience
• "Baby catching" (attending deliveries as nursery nurse)
• Please note that there is a 24/7 pediatrician in-house, however, there is only an on-call (remote) neonatologist.
• No residents/Client/NPs

Schedule Notes: 13 week assignment 7pm-730am; 3x12.5 hr shift (36 hours/week)

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts/month (2F / 1Sa / 1Su or 1F / 2Sa / 1Su) assigned my management
• Holiday Requirement
• No On-Call Requirement
• No Float Requirement
