Registered Nurse (RN) - L&D

Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) Labor & Delivery (L&D)

The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating patients and assisting physicians with patient care.

• Plans, implements, and documents nursing care based on patient's needs.
• Identifies patient needs and determines priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Develops, implements and coordinates individualized plan of care for patients assigned through initial and on-going assessments.
• Initiates assessment based on the patient's problems or needs, the physician's medical diagnosis, and the functional health framework.
• Performs therapeutic nursing interventions.
• Manages care of patients.
• Documents care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and/or clinical priorities.
• Advocates for evidence-based practice care standards and supports adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
• Provides patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice model.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirement: ASN.

Preferred Education: BSN Preferred.

Required Certifications & Licensure: BLS must be AHA.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 1+ year of experience in related specialty.

Experience: 

• Min 2 years of recent L&D experience Required.
• Must have experience Circulating with C-sections.
• Scrub experience- Preferred.

Experience with the following preferred: IV insertions, IV pumps, blood draws, labor bed experience, warmers, PCA and Epidural pumps, SCD machines, Pulse OX and O2 Setup.

Certifications/Licenses: 

• BLS-aha, ACLS-aha, and NRP Certifications all- Required.
• C-EFM (Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring)- Required

Schedule Notes: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM

• Every Other Weekend Required.
• Holidays- As Needed.
• No on Call.
• Patient Ratio: 1:2- Max ratio 1:3. 130-160 births per month. 40-60 C-Sections per month.
• RN will not be floated as an RN assignment but more as a PCT role, where they will be taking vitals and assisting the nursing staff
